Intent
At St Theresa's, we believe that maths is an essential, creative and highly interconnected discipline that provides pupils with a foundation for understanding the world. Our vision is to develop confident, resilient and independent mathematicians who are fluent, able to reason mathematically, and can apply their knowledge to solve problems. We aim to foster a love of maths by providing engaging, challenging and inclusive learning experiences for all pupils.
We are committed to the principles of maths mastery, following guidance from the NCETM, ensuring that all pupils develop deep, secure understanding of mathematical concepts. Through a coherent, carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils move through learning at broadly the same pace, with timely intervention and adaptive teaching supporting those who need additional help.
